The three stages of ADI training

Part 1 – Theory and Hazard Perception

Part 1 tests your knowledge and hazard perception.

Preparation involves understanding the relevant subjects and developing the ability to recognise developing hazards.

Part 2 – Driving Ability

Part 2 assesses your driving to an advanced standard.

Training helps you identify weaknesses and develop the consistency required for the test.

Part 3 – Instructional Ability

Part 3 is about your ability to teach. You need to demonstrate that you can structure an appropriate lesson, manage risk and respond to the needs of your pupil. This is why Part 3 preparation requires more than simply knowing what the test involves.
